
Today we want to start this blog off by giving you a short review on the Community Choice Credit Union. Welcome to the credit union blog where we will keep you informed on the latest and greatest in the CU industry. This CU has been in business more for over 80 years and started in 1935 in Redford (first called the Redford Township CU) where a group of community member put a few 5 dollars together and let anyone borrow it whenever they needed to. Arthur and May Jenkins where to original co-creators of this CU and housed all its operations in their home in Redford for 25 years.
A few years later in 1960 they moved into their first office space and in the late 90’s the group expanded to include community members from Livonia. To show community members that their focus was helping them they changed the name to Community Choice Credit Union. In 2002 the Community Choice CU expands once more making it the biggest of it’s kind in Michigan.
Up until the year 2015 this credit union has merged with the likes of Research Federal Credit Union, expanded operations to Farmington Hills, launched a foundation to help students called the Community Choice Foundation, partnered with Rome CU to expand to Royal Oak and finally merges with NuPath Community CU to further expand into the western side of Michigan.

Opening an account
Community Choice Credit Union provides a range of financial service to its members and with a $10 membership fee you get access to all of them. Furthermore to be eligible for an account you should living or working in the Wayne, Livingston, Genesee, Ottawa or Kent counties. Being a member of the Detroit Historical Museum also gives you the opportunity to become member of this CU.
Locations and operating hours
Community Choice Credit Union has many ATM, shared and co-op locations to provide its members ease of use of their services. They currently have credit union locations in Livonia MI, Altoona, Milford, Denver, Farmington, Redford, Johnston, Ankeny, Des Moines and many more. Most of their branches operate in hours from 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday with some being open on Saturdays as well. Services they offer
It has come to our attention that this really great credit union or at least seams so on paper. They have many services and compared to other CU’s definitely stand out. Just by taking a look at some of the financial services they offer we could probably write a review about that on its own. However Community Choice Credit Union offers both personal and business financial solutions to its members. For personal finance the have checking and savings accounts, mobile banking, investing, insurance, retiring and of course loan services. The loans Community Choice CU has is purposefully divided into different categories which makes it really easy for their members. These include applying for loans for normal stuff like mortgages and cars but also include boats, RV’s, student loans and help for local businesses.
Community Choice Credit Union have a helpful resources section on their website with financial calculators and tips on how to switch to their CU, help on security, information on scholarships and much more.
